On-Site Activities

Our rural setting puts the best of nature right at your doorstep for you to enjoy!

Campfires

Nothing brings people together like a campfire!

From toasting marshmallows to late-night stories, you can now make your stay unforgettable by building your own campfire in one of our dedicated campfire areas, set within our peaceful grounds and surrounded by nature.

£12 Campfire Kit Includes:

  • Bag of Dried Logs
  • Firelighters
  • Lighter
  • Torch

Just ask our reception team for a campfire kit! And why not also add on a S’Mores Kit?

£8 S’Mores Kit Includes:

  • Wooden Skewers
  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate Biscuits

We highly recommend ordering a take-away hot drink from the Bar as well to keep you nice and toasty.

Please note this package is not available if the risk of wild-fires is too high – therefore unfortunately if it’s been dry for a while without rain, our team won’t permit campfires.

Foraging

With areas of wild meadows and woodlands on our doorstep, we’ve got plenty of opportunites for foraging.

If you’d like to book in a guided foraging walk, we’ve partnered up with Helen from Wild Seasons Foraging who can take your group around the hotel’s grounds and woodlands to seek nature’s edible treats, such as mushrooms, herbs, berries, leaves and flowers.

Packages

2 hour foraging course for up to 12 people with 2 snacks made from foraged ingredients and one drink = £330 (extra guests are £7.50 per person)

2 hour foraging course for up to 12 people to include one foraged drink = £195 (extra guests are £7.50 per person)

Wild Seasons Foraging run 2 hour foraging walks helping people discover the huge range of wild foods in our countryside. These relaxed, friendly walks include snacks or drinks made from foraged ingredients. The walk will start with a short introduction and then you’ll meander slowly through our grounds as you explore the wild foods of the season. Towards the end you’ll sit down to enjoy your snacks and drinks while your recap your wild food finds.

This activity is great for groups of around 12 people with a maximum of 20 guests.  These foraging walks run from early spring to autumn when we discover some edible fungi, fruit and seeds.

The walk will take place in the hotel grounds and adjacent footpaths.

You don’t need to bring any equipment but walking shoes or wellies plus weather appropriate clothing is a must. The walk will go ahead even in light rain – Wild Seasons Foraging will cancel the walk if there is a weather forecast indicating a risk to guests, e.g. thunderstorms, high winds, extreme temperatures.

Stargazing

Relax and reconnect under a starry sky.

Away from the bright city lights, Lythe Hill has seen some beautiful starry nights. What better way to relax than to enjoy the peaceful embrace of nature, whilst gazing up at the night sky?

We can provide a free Stargazing guide to get you started!

Alternatively, we also recommend downloading a stargazing app to help you work out which constellations you can see.
