Foraging
With areas of wild meadows and woodlands on our doorstep, we’ve got plenty of opportunites for foraging.
If you’d like to book in a guided foraging walk, we’ve partnered up with Helen from Wild Seasons Foraging who can take your group around the hotel’s grounds and woodlands to seek nature’s edible treats, such as mushrooms, herbs, berries, leaves and flowers.
Packages
2 hour foraging course for up to 12 people with 2 snacks made from foraged ingredients and one drink = £330 (extra guests are £7.50 per person)
2 hour foraging course for up to 12 people to include one foraged drink = £195 (extra guests are £7.50 per person)
Wild Seasons Foraging run 2 hour foraging walks helping people discover the huge range of wild foods in our countryside. These relaxed, friendly walks include snacks or drinks made from foraged ingredients. The walk will start with a short introduction and then you’ll meander slowly through our grounds as you explore the wild foods of the season. Towards the end you’ll sit down to enjoy your snacks and drinks while your recap your wild food finds.
This activity is great for groups of around 12 people with a maximum of 20 guests. These foraging walks run from early spring to autumn when we discover some edible fungi, fruit and seeds.
The walk will take place in the hotel grounds and adjacent footpaths.
You don’t need to bring any equipment but walking shoes or wellies plus weather appropriate clothing is a must. The walk will go ahead even in light rain – Wild Seasons Foraging will cancel the walk if there is a weather forecast indicating a risk to guests, e.g. thunderstorms, high winds, extreme temperatures.

Relax and reconnect under a starry sky.
Away from the bright city lights, Lythe Hill has seen some beautiful starry nights. What better way to relax than to enjoy the peaceful embrace of nature, whilst gazing up at the night sky?
We can provide a helpful Stargazing kit to get you started!
£20 Stargazing Kit Includes:
- Lazer
- Red Light Torch
- Firepit Kit
The red light torch helps you see your path, but without the blinding white light it helps your eyes adjust to the dark.
The lazer can be used to point out constellations – please note that lazers should be used with extreme caution and should never be pointed anywhere near someone’s eyes, in windows or towards aircrafts.
We also recommend downloading a stargazing app to help you work out which constellations you can see.
